ANNUAL REPORT 2023-24

 
Distinguished dignitaries, parents, members of the staff and my dear students,

It is with immense pleasure that I present the 47th Annual Report of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, for the academic year 2023-2024.

Let me begin with Academics

The outstanding results secured in SSE and SSCE serve as a testament to the legacy of the school’s meritorious academic achievements.

In the SSCE exams, all 163 students who appeared secured First class and 139 of them secured distinction. 22 got A1 in all subjects. C Nivedit Nandakumar topped the Science stream with 97.4%. Jeal Benda and Gopika Gopakumar topped the Commerce & Humanities with 96.8 % & 97 % respectively. Out of the 159 students who appeared for SSE exams, 145 secured distinction & 24 got A1 in all subjects. SSE toppers were Abhinav Sathish, Arnav Premchand, Gayathri Praveen, Pranav G Sajeev and Lakshmi Shankari Nandana.

It is a matter of great pride that our school Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, was conferred the coveted Kulapati Munshi Award for the Best School 2022, amongst Bhavan’s schools across India & overseas.

The school won the P T Thomas Educational Excellence Award 2023 for its stellar performance in the 2023 Std X & XII Board Exams.

SHIKSHAN BHARATI COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION

The Annual Shikshan Bharati Evaluation was conducted on 12 & 13 September by a team of evaluators led by Smt. Usha K, Education Officer, Shikshan Bharati.

Regular staff meetings are conducted to evaluate our quality of performance and plan for the future with more innovative methods of teaching and learning programs.

Triumphs and Milestones: A Chronicle of Remarkable Achievements

?         In the 25th All Kerala Bhavan’s Cultural Fest the school won the over all runner up trophy in category 1 and the third position in category 4.

?         The Kochi Sahodaya Fest saw the emerging third in category 3 fifth in category 4.

?         Team Girinagar were the Overall Champions at Anokha and Orateur Eloquent the inter school literary competition and interschool cultural competition conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Thripunithura and Toc h Public school, Vyttila respectively.

?         In KRITHI 2023- Inter school Quiz competition conducted by BNV Velloor and‘Nadanirjhari’ the Carnatic & Instrumental Music Competition conducted by Vidyodaya School Thevakkal, our school won the first runner up position.

?         Our school received the best Yi chapter award for the year 2023

?         BVM Girinagar bagged first prize in‘Bridging Melodies’an event based on an art integrated project with the theme of paired states.

?         Our school achieved commendable positions in the inter school competitions and fests conducted by BMV Thripunithura, BAV Kakkanad, BVV Thrikkakkara, BNV Velloor, BVM Elamakkara, BVM Eroor, Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, S H Thevara, Toc H Public School, Vidyodaya School, Rajagiri Public School, Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School, The Choice School, Cochin Refineries School, Global Public School, Campion School, Cochin Shipyard, Ernakulam Karayogam, Ramakrishna Math and Rotary Club.

?         Saketh Sandeep of class VIII A did the school proud by securing the First position at the National Level in the Automobile Olympiad. He also won the First Prize in Group Discussion & Mock Interview conducted by Rotary Club of Cochin.

?         In the CBSE State Kalolsav, Meenakshi S Varma of IX A and Arjun A Menon of VII A won the First prize in Carnatic Music and Essay writing competition respectively.

?         Our students proved their mettle in All Kerala Bhavan’s Scholarship, MTSE, SOF Olympiad, Silverzone Olympiad during the academic year 2022-2023.

?         Shivani. V. Kaimal of VIII A, Adithya Narayanan of XII A and Meenakshi S Varma of IX A completed the BSS Diploma in various art disciplines.

?         Panchami Easwara Sarma of II A secured second prize in the State Level Gita Chanting Competition held at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala.

?         Nikitha P Pai of VA secured First place in Open State Yogasana Championship.

?         Thamanna M S of VIII D secured prizes in various art competitions conducted by YOUNG INTACH, Granthapura and Amritha Hospital.

?         Sarang Muraleedharan of VII D was awarded with a certificate in recognition of his exemplary scores in NATIONAL SPOT 100 GEN II and has been chosen as one of the TOP 100 Young Science Talents, in India by Vikram Sarabhai Science Foundation.

?         Gaurang G Pai of IXA was adorned with ‘Kalakriti’, Medal of Appreciation in Hindustani Music, conducted by Heritage Foundation of Art and Culture.

?         Gopika Balagopal of XI C won the second prize in the Essay Writing Competition held at Amritha Hospital.

?         Mihitnayan of IVC, Hanna Paulson of XD, Vinayak Dili of VII B and Arya Vyshnav of XD   won prizes in Ernakulam District Yogasana Competition and were selected for State Level Competition.

?         Neehara Suresh of XIA, Anvita M Pai of IXA and Andrea Philomina IVA secured coveted ranks in the ‘Sugama Hindi Examination 2022’ conducted by Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha.

?         Ashneel Surendran of VI D was awarded Champion in Advance Level 2 in the Regional SIP Abacus, Brain Gym and Mental Arithmetic competition and Second Runner up position in The Advance Level 3 in the 20th National Level ZIP Abacus competition.

?          Andriya Philomina Thomas of IV C, Ardra Arunkrishnan of VIA and Sana Shibu of VII D won the First, Second and Third Prize respectively in the Masoom National Painting Competition conducted by Yi.

?         Srishaaradha Subramanian of XI C secured Third in Group VI in the All Kerala Inter School Gita Recitation Competition.

?         Srishaarada Subramanian of XIC, Samyuktha S Nair of XB, Meenakshi S Varma of IX A and Shivani V Kaimal of VIIIA won prizes in theSanskrit Fest 2023 conducted by Chinmaya International Foundation.

?         Niranjan Kartha of XA won the second prize  for Mono Act and Ardra Arunkrishnan and Aadhya Arunkrishnan of VIA secured first and third prize, respectively in the light music competition organized by Balajanasakhyam.

?         Kesav Manoj of VIIIA received the Silver Play Button from YouTube for reaching 100 K subscribers. 

?         In the English Essay writing competition conducted by FACT, Mihirnayan V M of XD and Rachel Koshy Pothen of XIIA won the first and third prize respectively.

?         In the essay writing competition organised by Dhanalaxmi Bank, Darshana Harikumar of XIB and Vaishnavi Varma of XII C placed second and third, respectively.

?         Ms. Kala Nair, teacher, Department of Chemistry won the Best Accompanying Teacher Award and Ms. Induja V R, teacher, Department of Sanskrit won the Best Teacher Award in the Vidyodaya Camp 2023. Ayush Krishnan and Stephen Abraham Chacko of VIIIC secured the Best Team Award and Poornima S of VIIIB and Avanthika AS of VIII D received the Runner Up position.

?         In the Inter School Mathematics Paper Presentation Competition organized by BNV Velloor, Hrishikesh Varma of XI B and Gopika Balagopal of XIC won the first prize.

?         John Mathew of VIID secured the third prize in the Read and Review competition 2023, conducted by DC Books.

?         Smriti Sreeram and Shivani V. Kaimal of VIIIA secured third place in the inter-school mathematics exhibition for class VIII organised by Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya.

?         Avanthika Aravind of II D emerged as the second runner-up of Lulu Little Star 2023.

?         Agney T Shibu of VD secured third prize for Vadya Sangeet competition held by Rotary Club of Cochin.

?         Malavika Umashankar of IXB received the certificate of appreciation for her outstanding performance in the English Reading Challenge 2023-24 conducted by CBSE.

 
QUIZ COMPETITIONS

Traun Thomas Tyson of XB and Kiran Thomas Tyson of IXB won the prestigious awards in the quiz competitions conducted by reputed organisations. The list includes,

?         2nd edition of the National G20THINQ Quiz competition conducted by the INDIAN NAVY & NWWA at the Gateway of India, Mumbai.

?         Zonal finalists in the Ultimate Sports Quiz 2023 held at Mumbai by Harsha Bhogle.

?         Third Prize in the U-Genius All Kerala General Awareness Quiz conducted by Union Bank .

?         Third prize in the Quiz competition conducted in connection with 28th All Kerala Children’s Fest organized by Cochin Shipyard Recreation Club.

?         Fourth Position in the Mathrubhumi YES QUIZ ME.

?        The team of Kiran Thomas Tyson IX B and Rishab Rajesh Nambiar VIID won the second prize in the WWF National Level Quiz competition which won them an all expenses met five trip to Camp Hornbill, Uttarakhand.

?        Team of Abhijith Krishna XA and Arjun Vivek XD and team of Vishnupriya M. Nair IXD and Kiran Thomas Tyson IXB secured first and third place respectively in the Kochi regional finals of ConQuizTador 2023 conducted by PES University, Bengaluru.

?        Niranjan Shankar VIIIB was selected to the final round of Indica Quiz, by Nexus consultants.

?        Arjun Vivek XD and Abhijith Krishna XA secured second position second in the Indica Quiz.

?        Kiran Thomas Tyson and Nakul A. R. of IXB won the first prize in the GK contest at November Rain, organised by Kottayam Round Table.

?        Mihirnayan V M XD, Nayana Padmakumar XID and Aditi Alekat Rajesh XIA secured the third position in the Science Quiz Competition conducted by Amrita Hospital.

?        In the philately quiz conducted by Head post office Ernakulam our team consisting of Arjun Vivek XD and Abhijith Krishna X A won the third prize.

?        Akash Anoop and Neeraj B Nair of XII A won the third prize in the quiz competition at Fabula 2023 conducted by Rajagiri Higher Secondary School, Kalamassery.

?        Sanjeevan Karthikeyan XB and Rishikesh Varma XIB won the Third Prize in the quiz competition conducted by The Dawn Public School.

?        Mihir A S of III C bagged second prize from over 13000 participants in the National Level Toffee Ride Go Quiz Competition Season 4 Finals conducted by the Toffee Ride learning Platform.

?        Kiran Thomas Tyson and Malavika Umashankar of Std IX B won the First Prize and Sree Sankar Balamurali and Lakshmi Sankari Nandana of XID won the Third Prize in the ‘District level Read and Win Inter School quiz’ organised jointly by Malayala Manorama & Santa Monica.

?        Kiran Thomas Tyson of IX B, Nakul A R and Yajat V Karol of IX C secured the third in the “THE BRAIN HUNT 2023” conducted by Rotary Club of Cochin.

?        MODEL UNITED NATIONS

 

?      Our MUN team bagged the runners up position in Rajagiri Model United Nation.

?      Aryagayathri R. of XII was part of the Board of Directors in the Continuous Crisis Committee for De Legatus Model United Nations 2023 held at BVM Elamakkara and was part of the Board of Chairs in the United Nations Human Rights Council for Universal Diplomatic Model United Nations. She was selected as the Best Delegate (U N Security Council) in G 20 MUN 2023 held at The Choice School.

?      Adhvika Asghar of XI D won the Best Delegate Award at the IIMUN, held at The Choice School.

?      Adisurya Hari IX D representing the US won an Honourable Mention at the MUNsters International Conference 2023.

?      In the Svapasya Bhavan’s Model United Nations 2023, Team BVM Girinagar won prizes.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS & GAMES

?         The Usain Bolt of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar S. R Rohan of XIID did himself and his school proud by winning an array of Gold Medals, the most notable amongst them being

Double gold in 100m and 200m at the CBSE National Athletic Meet, Dr. Tony Daniel Memorial Ernakulam District Athletic Championship and Kochi Sahodaya Sports Meet. Moreover he earned the coveted individual champion title in the CBSE Cluster Athletic Meet. He is one of the three athletes who has been sponsored by the Elite group.

?         Niranjana Raj of VIC set a new meet record in shotput at the KM Munshi Memorial Athletic Meet.

?         Promising chess player Aadhik Theophane Lenin of VIB has a few achievements to his credit, namely,

?       Third Position in 38th National Under 11 Open Championship Tournament 2023

?       14th in the 36th National Under 13 Chess Championship 2023

?       third position in the U-12 (Boys)category in the Kerala State Inter School Selection Chess Championship2023 at Naipunya Public School.

?       First Position in the U-12 Open category in Ernakulam District Inter School Individual Selection Chess Championship-2023 organized by Ernakulam Chess Association.

?         Hari R. Chandran of XII A had been selected from the State for the National Under-19 Chess Championship. He was placed second in the State Championship.

?         Arjun A Menon of VIIA secured the second position in forum chess wiz 2024, the Fourth Position in Ernakulam District Inter School Individual Selection Chess Championship-2023, eighth position in theTGS Chess Tournament, sixth position in the chess competition organized by Chess Association Ernakulam and seventh position in All Kerala Inter School Chess Tournamentorganized by Rotary Cochin Royals and Rajagiri Public School.

?         Janvi J Menon of VIIA and Jaishnavi J Menon of IVA secured 3rd and 5th position respectively in the Kerala State School Individual Chess Tournament.

?         K K Maisha Shah of 1C won the bronze medal in the 600 mts Roller skating at the Kerala State Roller Skating Competition held at Palakkad. She also won the third prize in the interschool roller skating championship held at Assissi Vidyaniketan, Kakkanad.

?         Adhvika Asghar of XIB represented Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala in the National Aquatic Championship held at Haryana. She won Silver in 50m Backstroke, Bronze in 100m Backstroke and Bronze in 200m Backstroke. She got National Selection to represent the South Zone (Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala) to be held at Haryana for the 50m backstroke.

?         The Judo Champion Ankith Rakesh of VIII C, won the Gold medal in the South Zone Judo competition in the U 14 (50 kg, held at Chithrakoot International School, Maharashtra, Third Place and Bronze Medal in the Sub Junior National Kurash Championship 2023.

?         Aditri Arun Pillai of std VI secured first in Intra academy Rythmic Gymnastics Championship held at Balter Gymnastic academy.

?         Anshika Rakesh of IIC secured the First place and Gold Medal in the 15th Kerala State Kurash Championship held at Kannur.

?         Kaushik Yavvaram of III A, Akshainie Yavvaram and Diya Githesh of VI A won prizes in the 9th YMCA Indoor Dojo Karate Championship 2023.

?         Ankith Rakesh of VIII C represented Kerala  State in the Under 10 years 50Kg Boys Category and secured Third Place and Bronze Medal in theSub Junior National Kurash Championship 2023-24 heldat Indore Public School, Main Campus, Rau, Indore.

?         Anvita M Pai of IXA secured First in the Individual Kumite Event in Girls below 40 kg category and Second  in the Individual Kumite event in Girls Open category in the inter Dojo Open Karate Championship.

?         Yunus Wajit Sait of IIC participated in the Kerala State Arm BoxingChampionship 2023 and secured First Position in Under 25 kg.

?         Varsha R Shankar of VIID won First position in ‘Vadipayattu’, Third in ‘Vadiveeshu’ and Third in ‘Team Maipayattu’ in Ernakulam District Kalaripayattu Championship.

?         Anvita Sumesh of VID represented Ernakulam District in Women 11-15 category and secured gold at the first State K-1 Amateur & Pro State Championship.

?         Ram Kishan of IIIA bagged the following prizes in the 5th All Kerala Don Bosco Inter school Aquatic Meet.

     First in 50m freestyle, 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke.

?         In Kochi Sahodaya Annual Athletic Meet 2023 held at Sree Narayana Vidyapeetam Public School, our students bagged prizes.

?         Abhimanyu Jothish of III D secured the first and second prizes for open kata and kata, respectively, in the State Karate Championship 2023.

?         Neeraj P Raju of XIIA has been awarded Player of the match in the Newsprint Soccer 2023 held at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor.

?         In the second Kerala State Open Interschool ITF Taekwondo championship, Rhea Rajesh Nambiar of IIA won gold in the 21 kg weight category and silver in the green stripe; Devika V of VID won gold in the 30 kg weight category and the yellow belt category; and Rishab Rajesh Nambiar of VII D won gold in the 45 kg weight category and silver in the green stripe.

?         Tarun Thomas Tyson of X B won the first prize in the District Checkers Championship. 

?         Kiran Thomas Tyson of Class IX B secured the second prize in the All Kerala Scrabble Championship organized by Centre Square Mall, Kochi.

?         Our students won prizes in the 39th Dr. K M Munshi Memorial Inter- School Athletic Meet.

?         The school Basketball team won several tournaments, namely,

?       The 29th Bhavan’s Cup Inter School Basketball Tournament conducted by BVM Elamakkara.

?       U -14 Boys, U-19 Boys, U-19 Girls team emerged winners, first runner up and second runner up positions respectively in the 12th Bhavan’s All Kerala Games held at Perumthuruthy.

?       Winners in the tournament held at St.Mary’s Thamarachal, in which Dheeraj D Shenoy of VIIA was selected as the Best Player of the Tournament.

?       Won the Vishal Cup in the Inter School tournament hosted by Gregorian Public school, in which Pratyash Pradeep of Std XII, won the ‘Best player’ Award.

?       Won the Runners Up Trophy in the Sanskara Kick & Dunk Basketball tournament conducted by Sanskara School.

?       In the Toc H Centenary Cup Basketball Tournament, Adhirudhan Pillai and Praseen T Biju of IXC won the Best Player of the match and the Best Promising Player award respectively.

?         Kho Kho (Boys) team

?       Emerged winners in the Ernakulam District Kho Kho Championship. Abhinav Vipin, Junie Robin, Vysakh Subhash of VIII D, Shawn James VIIIC and Prajun S VII D were selected to the Ernakulam district team.

?       Both the Boys and Girls team were the Runners up in the CBSE Cluster XI Kho Kho Championship and Kho Kho Tournament held at Nalanda Public School, in which Adhirudhan Pillai IXC was adjudged as the Best Defender.

?         U-19 (Boys) Football team emerged first runner up in the 12th Bhavan’s All Kerala Games held at Perumthuruthy, in which Durgesh Singh of XID was chosen as the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament and they also won the first Runner Up position in the Charles Cup Inter School Football Tournament conducted by St Charles Borromeo Convent School. Thomas Paul received the award for the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.

?          Durgesh Singh of XID was chosen as the Best Player of the Match of the Soccer TocH Tournament organized by Toc H Public School.

?         BVMG Handball team secured second runner up position in the CBSE South Zone Handball Tournament.

?         Thejas Varghese Sam of VD, Dev Shankar of VI B, Krish Menon of VIIA, Adidev A Nair, Aagnesh Krishna of VIII C, Aakash Kishore and Aditya G B of XI D emerged winners in the River Bourne School Badminton Championship.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES FOR STUDENTS

Students of Std XI and XII attended awareness sessions on Career Guidance by O P Jindal University, Vedhik IAS Academy, Career Launcher, Thinc Design and they also attended a session on cardio vascular diseases by Dr. Sasikumar, Cardiologist, Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam.

?      An interactive session was arranged for Std XI, wherein Major R. Rajesh, an alumni of Sainik School, Kazhakkootom, and a commissioned officer in the Indian Army, shared his experiences in the Kargil war.

?      Vedhik IAS Academy conducted sessions for Std VI-X.

?      Mr Sridhar Natarajan conducted a session on Mathematics for the students of Std IX.

?      NATURE TURKS

?      Team of 12 students and two teachers visited the Golden Boulder Camp Telengana in October 2023. It was a four day camp which involved fun filling activities like trekking, rappelling, bush craft, culinary activities, biodiversity sampling and navigation skill development tasks. The camp was an environment conservation focussed learning initiative by World View.

?      Ekta - celebration of Multilingualism & Plurality

The PTA of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Girinagar, Kochi organised ‘Ekta’ a cultural pageant to showcase the Multilinguistic and pluralistic flavour of the school. In the 1 hr long programme which featured 11 languages, as many as 65 participants from Std I - XI participated.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES TO FACILITATE HOLISTIC  DEVELOPMENT IN STUDENTS
ATAL INNOVATION MISSION ACHIEVEMENTS

?      Adarsh Satish and Sanjeevan Karthikeyan of Std X received certificates for being the top 400 teams in ATL Marathon 2022-2023.

?      Our team secured the 2nd position in the Pradeep P Thevannoor Hackathon and won a cash prize of Rs 10,000/-

?      Pranav K P of VIID and Adwaith Rajesh of VIIID secured third position in the 3D Modelling competition, Abhyudaya 2023 conducted by Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya.

?      Adwaith Rajesh and Gourinandh of VIIID secured second position in the competition UDAAN conducted by BVM Eroor.

?      Asif Farhan and Adwaith Rajesh of VIIID secured the third position in the interschool Tinkering fest organised by BVM Elamakkara.

?      In the intra mural competition NVISION 2030 conducted by ATL of our school, Milan Rajesh, Vishnu S Kumar, Sreelakshmi Praveen, Ananthakrishnan N P of IX and Pranav K P of VII won prizes.

?      MAGNUM OPUS

The 28th Edition of Magnum Opus, the Inter School Dance Fest was conducted. Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor bagged the Overall Championship Trophy and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara won the Runners Up Trophy .

GANIT WIZARD

VII Inter school Mathematics Competition Ganit Wizard 2023 was conducted in connection with National Mathematics Day Celebration.

HOUSES AND CLUBS

The eight houses and various clubs aim to provide a suitable learning environment where in students get a chance to channelize their positive energy to bring in their maximum potential in the learning process.

RADIO GIRINAGAR

Radio Girinagar was introduced to give an additional experience to the students and provide a fantastic platform for them to help build confidence, develop speaking and listening skills and showcase their inherent talents in music and percussion.

 
KALABHARATI

Kalabharati is a programme designed to instill the love for art and culture in both staff and students. It conducts classes in a variety of disciplines like Carnatic Vocal Music, Bharatanatyam, Violin, Veena, Mridhangam, Yoga and drawing.

The alumni association of BVMG met on 30 December after the hiatus of six years was attended by good number of alumni and teachers of yesteryears.

 
 
EDUSPORTS

To make sports an integral part of every child’s education and upbringing our school reintroduced the Physical Education Programme, ‘Edusports’.

AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAMME

The Awakened Citizen Program emphasizes that each child is unique and has infinite potential. It is introduced in classes 1 – 8 with an aim to empower students to realise their innate possibilities and thus enable them to integrate values in their lives to bring about a transformation from within.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS

Our NCC Unit that was incorporated 16 years ago is marching forward with all zest with 50 cadets on roll. It plays a credible role in shaping the character of students by instilling the values of patriotism, service, discipline and hard work. In the Cadet Annual Training Camp held at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor by 21 Kerala Battalion, S Sreekesh of IXA   was selected as the ‘Best Cadet’. Mispa Sajan of IX D and S sreekesh of IXA secured the second position in Rifle shooting and selected to Inter Grouping Camp and Thal Sainik Camp.

 
ANNUAL HEALTH CHECK-UP

A comprehensive medical inspection by a team of specialists is organized every year. Every student of our school undergoes a health check-up once in a year by the doctors from reputed hospitals/ Wellness Solutions. Vision, dental, ENT and general health are checked and recorded.

Scouts and Guides

Our school introduced the Scouts and Guides programme for the students of Std 5 to 8. It is functioning under the aegis and guidance of Hindustan Scouts and Guides, India.

SCHOOL LIBRARY

Our school library has a collection of more than 13000 books. Our school library is a member of the national digital library club - a movement for Integrated Digital Learning Across India. NDLI-Club is a platform for conducting learning-oriented events. In association with DC Books our school organized a book exhibition in the school.

 
SCHOOL PUBLICATIONS

The annual school newsletter Toolika and the magazine Bhavana will be published soon.

 
 

SCHOOL COUNSELLOR

The efforts of the team of special educators have tremendously supported the students in their overall development. Counselling service is extended to the parents too. Resource room facilities have been made available to students with special needs.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP

To instill in students the skills of collaboration and teamwork, the school has organised picnic programmes for students. Students of Std IX & X were taken on a picnic to Wonder Valley Adventure Park, Adimali and students of Std XI & XII to Greenberg Resort, Kulamavu. The picnics for the remaining classes will be held before the end of February.

 

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS FOR TEACHERS

?      Smt. Mary Philomina P G, teacher, Dept. of Computer Science, was honoured with the PT Thomas Excellence Award 2023 for her unstinted support and guidance to the student community.

?      In the recently conducted Abhiruchi teachers conclave at Adarsha Vidyalaya, the theme of which was Design Thinking, the teacher duos of Kala S Nair, Neethu PS, Akhil A and Anitha G won the second and third prize respectively.

?      Ms. Neethu P S secured the Second Prize in ‘Synchronize Colours’ (Poster Making Competition) held in connection with the Teachers’ Conclave Vidya Jwala  at Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal.

?      Smt Anjana Varma, teacher (Dept of Mathematics received the award for the Best Teacher Coordinator.(Yi)

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES FOR TEACHERS

In keeping with the CBSE prerogative of undergoing 50 hours of professional development annually, teachers attended a wide range of webinars. Some of them were subject specific while others were general in nature. To list a few:

?      Principal Smt. Sreejyothi N was the Resource Person for ‘Art Integration’, a Capacity Building Programme organised by CoE Trivandrum.

?      Vice-Principal Smt. Sindhu K was the Resource Person for ‘Secondary Maths, a two-day Capacity Building programme organised by CoE Trivandrum at Chinmaya School, Kalarkode, Allappey, St. John’s School, Keerukuzhi,Pathanamthitta and Life Valley International School, Puthuppally, Kottayam.

?      Vice Principal Smt. Sindhu K and Sri Rahul S Nair attended a Conclave on ‘Sports and Drug Addiction’ organised by the Regional Sports Centre, Cochin.

?      Assistant Vice-Principal Smt. Indu S was the Resource Person for ‘Secondary Hindi’, a two-day Capacity Building programme organised by CoE Trivandrum at Sreenarayana Vidyapeedom Public School, Thripunithura.

?      Smt Sushi P was the resource person for ‘Inclusive education’, a two day capacity building programme organised by CoE Trivandrum.

?      Teachers of various departments attended training sessions during the academic year 2023-2024.

?      INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

As part of the infrastructure development, we have upgraded our infrastructure facilities including the washrooms, canteen, computer lab, science labs and library. The construction of the lift is under process.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS OBSERVED

To mark the significance of the national, international and cultural days, several programmes and functions were organised at school, thus adding colour and vibrancy to school life. To name a few, Environment Day, Yoga Day, Van Mahotsav Day, Ramayana Week, Constitution Day, Founders Day, Sanskrit Day, Hindi Day, Quit India Day, Independence Day, Teachers Day, Kargil Vijay Diwas, Gandhi Jayanthi, Children’s Day, Kerala Piravi, Guru Poornima, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas , Onam, Navrathri, Energy Conservation Day, Sports Day, Christmas Celebrations, Republic Day etc.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME

?      As part of the Community Outreach Programme, students of Std I-XII donated bags and study materials to the less deprived children of the society.

?      The support staff of BVM Girinagar was honoured in a programme "Snehasparsham - Joy of Giving," and as a token of love and appreciation, Onakodi and a kit of provisions were presented to them.

?      A team of 2 teachers and 8 students visited two schools, Ponnurunni Sanmarga Pradeepam School and Ponnurunni GLPS School and donated school bags and stationery items.

?      As a part of the School Social Responsibility initiatives, cakes and a number of new clothes were distributed to St Joseph UP School, Kadavanthra, Palliative Care, Ramakrishna Mission, Mahila Vibhag and GLPS Girinagar.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION

Our School PTA has always been a pillar of strength and support to the efforts of the school in curricular and co-curricular fronts. PTA felicitated the toppers and students who scored A1 in all subjects in the SSE and SSCE exams during the academic year 2021- 22. The meritorious students were honoured with mementos. PTA took the initiative to provide new sound system, financial assistance etc.The PTA also arranged onam payasam.

Their relentless support and cooperation always act as a stimulus to initiate new ventures in each academic year.
