ANNUAL REPORT 2024-25

Namaste and a warm good morning.

It is with immense pleasure that I present the 48th Annual Report of Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Girinagar, for the academic year 2024-2025.

Let me begin with Academics

In the SSCE exams, all the 169 students secured First class and 159 of them secured distinction. 27 got A1 in all subjects. Niranjana A topped the Science stream with 97.8%. Joseph Daniel and Vaishnavi Varma topped the Commerce stream with 95.8%. Suparna Sajeev topped the Humanities with 98.2%. Out of the 161 students who appeared for SSE exams, 143 secured distinction & 30got A1 in all subjects. The toppers were R Nandana Pillai with 98.8 %, Senna Roshan, Nandana Saju and Sanjeevan Kartikeyen with 98.4% and Elisha Therese Chacko, Rohan Anilkumar and Tarun Thomas Tyson with 98.2%

The school won the P T Thomas Educational Excellence Award 2024 for its stellar performance in the 2024 Std X & XII Board Exams.

15 students received Certificate of Commendation from Shikshan Bharati for scoring more than 90% in SSE 2024.

 

SHIKSHAN BHARATI COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION

The Annual Shikshan Bharati Evaluation was conducted on 9th &10th of July by a team of evaluators led by Smt. Usha K, Education Officer, Shikshan Bharati.

Triumphs and Milestones: A Chronicle of Remarkable Achievements

  • In the Kochi Sahodaya Kalotsav 2024 our school emerged as the Champion in Category IV. First Runners Up in Category III and secured Overall Second Runners Up position.
  • In the CBSE State Kalotsav, held at Ahalia Public School, Palakkad Meenakshi S Varma won 3 first prizes in Bharatanatyam, Classical Music Carnatic and Kuchipudi. The other prize winners were Abhijith Krishna in Extempore Hindi, Rajalakshmi Anand Moorthy in English Recitation, Gaurang G Pai in Flute, Bhaskaran Udayakumar in Tabla, Adhvika Asghar in Extempore English.
  • Our school secured the overall 4th position in the 26th All Kerala Bhavan's Cultural Fest 2024. Meenakshi S Varma won the Bhavans Jyothi award in Category 4.
  • We were the Overall Champions in the inter school competitions like All Kerala Bhagavad Gita Recitation competition organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Thrissur Kendra, Insignia - Art and Craft Competition organised by Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Nadhanirchari - Music Fest organised by Vidyodaya School, and Sastrasadas 2024, organized by Govt. Sanskrit College, Tripunithura.
  • Our school won the runner up trophy in many Inter school events like Vox Populi organised by Vidyodaya School, Anokha conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Tripunithura, Toc H Super Quiz Brainwracker and in Impulse organised by The Choice School and earned the Overall 2nd Runner-Up trophy in Labyrinth - Inter-school Quiz Fest organized by Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, and in Svapasya organised by Bhavan's Vidya Mandir Eroor.
  • The school team won the 1st prize in Dejavu (AI music creation) in the Tech Ed conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala
  • Students who proved their mettle with their oratorical skills in Inter school competitions are Advika Asghar, Gopika Balagopal, Nayana Padmakumar, Elisha Therese Chacko and Dia Sajil.
  • JCI India Pratibha Puraskar was awarded to Aditi Alekat Rajesh, Neeraj Prakash Nair, Sriram Sanjith and Lakshmi Sankari Nandana for their leadership quality, good attitude, character and values possessed.
  • In the Sarala Sanskrit Exam, 20 students secured distinction and 12 were placed in First Class. Madhav Balachander, Abhisheka C Raj and Tarun Thomas Tyson of std XI were awarded the scholarship for the year 2023-2024 by Central Sanskrit University.
  • Neha Suresh won Third position in the Sugama Hindi Exam, at the District level.
  • Our students proved their mettle in All Kerala Bhavan’s Scholarship, MTSE, SOF and Silverzone Olympiad. Malavika Menon, Kiran Thomas Tyson and Nabil B won Gold medals and cheques for Rs 5000/- each for the Zonal level SOF. Mihir A S, Arjun A Menon, Annabel Lijo, Malavika S Nair and Rohan Anilkumar won gifts worth Rs 500/- each.
  • In MTSE organised by Kerala Ganitha Sasthra Parishad - Malavika S Nair of Std IX secured the 5th Rank, Sanjeevan Karthikeyan of Std X - 6th Rank, Krish Nirmal of Std I - 7th Rank and Mahizhini K of Std VII - 10th Rank.
  • 15 students secured distinction in the All Kerala Bhavan’s Scholarship.
  • Tanvi Vivek secured 12th rank in Unified Cyber Olympiad at the National Level and 2nd rank in Mathematics Olympiad at the State Level.
  • Sreebala S Kumar and Tanvi Vivek secured the Top 100 position in the National level PCM examination.
  • Avni Upadhyay secured 1st rank in National Level Science Talent Search Examination and 3rd rank in Unified IMO. She also won the Best Performer- foundation Level 4 in SIP Regional Prodigy.
  • Asmi Upadhyay was the 1st runner up in the beginner level SIP Kochi Wizard. She also won 1st place in the SIP Regional Prodigy Junior Level.
  • Diya Vinu and Sreehari V Nair won the gold and silver medals respectively in the State level Brainobrainfest 2024- Abacus competition.
  • In the various competitions conducted by ISRO in connection with National Space Day, our team won prizes in Mapping Your Neighbourhood, Comic Strip, Astrophotography, Logo designing, Literary Appreciation, Essay Writing and Painting.
  • Daya Syam won First prize in the speech and in the Fancy Dress competition conducted by Pournami School of Fine Arts. She also secured Second position in the SIP Regional Prodigy - Beginners Level.
  • In the Quality Hackathon organised by Bureau Of Indian Standards(BIS) our team won the First Prize. The team members were: Rohit Krishna, Rebecca V S, Jose Stephen, Tsiona Jain, Virat K V.

  • In the Sanskrit Festival conducted by Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan, Meenakshi S Varma and Vanshika Vivek Narayan won the first and the 3rd place respectively in Bhagavad Gita Parayanam, Likewise Aradhya Akash and Panjami Easwara Sarma got 2nd and third place respectively in Kathakathanam. Samyuktha S Nair bagged the 2nd place in Vakspardha.
  • Panchami Eshwara Sharma of Std III won First prize and Srisharadha Subramanian of Std XII has won the Second prize in the District level Gita Chanting Competition, conducted by Chinmaya Mission, Ernakulam.
  • In the competitions conducted by ISKCON, Kochi, Panchami Eshwara Sharma and Trishika K of Std III and Sreelakshmi K V of Std II won prizes.
  • In the Painting Competition conducted by Forum Mall, Kochi, Thamanna M S won First prize and received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-
  • Aarush Arun achieved outstanding performance in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Web Development program organized by Forage, an international platform and is a GIAC Certified Digital Forensic Analyst.
  • Our school team comprising Mihir A S, Joseph Jay Pattam, Nakul Rajesh, Anirudh S won the Sub-Junior Robotics competition at EIRO 2025, organized by Evolve Robotics. They have been selected to attend the National level competition.
  • In the Meghala Level Sargolsavom organised by All Kerala Balajana Sakhyam, Niranjan S Kartha won First prize in Stand-Up Comedy and Architha Krishnan won Third in Light Music.
  • As part of Vigilance Awareness Week competitions conducted by Cochin Shipyard and FACT, G E Kunal, H T Anjana, Dyuthi N , Vismitha Vijin Karthik, Lakshmi S Nandana , Arjun Vivek, Nandana S, Karthika Sreeji Nair won prizes.
  • Arjun A Menon received a Merit award - Certificate of Excellence from The International Immerse Education Essay Writing Competition organised by British Accreditation Council which fetched him a whooping scholarship of Rupees One lakh five thousand.
  • Senior Head Girl Advika Asghar won the award for the Best Parliamentarian at the Young Indians Parliament 2024 organised jointly by Yi & Confederation of Indian Industry at Bengaluru .


QUIZ COMPETITIONS

Kiran Thomas Tyson and Nakul A R secured 1st place in the Official District Quizzing Championship. The school team (Kiran, Yajat, Nakul, Tarun) won 1st place and Rs. 5000 in the Olympic Quest quiz by Sanskara School. Abhijit Krishna and Srisankar Balamurali won Rs. 10,000 in the Aqua Regia quiz by TIME. Kiran and Tarun secured 1st place in Quiztrac by Rotract club, Aldrin Bino Quiz Contest by Chavara Public School winning Rs. 30,000 and were Runners-Up in the Toc H Interschool Super Quiz. Kiran secured 2nd place at the State-level World Quizzing Championship.

Nakul A R and Saketh Sandeep won the Secure Bytes 2.0 Quiz. Abhijith Krishna and Arjun Vivek won 1st place (Rs. 5000) in the Albertian Education Expo Quiz and 2nd in the Dawn Quizdom and the quiz conducted by International Book Fair, Kochi.

Malavika Menon and Arjun A Menon were placed 3rd in Indica - The India Quiz.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

  • Adhvika Asghar was selected as Assistant Director for Harvard Model UN India held at Benguluru, where 6 of our students participated.
  • Our school won the Ever Rolling Trophy for Best Delegation at Rajagiri Model United Nations.
  • In the BVM Elamakkara MUN, awards were won by Adhvika Asghar (Best position paper and Best Delegate), Abhijith Krishna (Best Position Paper and Special Mention), Niranjan S. Kartha (Special Mention), and Rajalakshmi Ananth Moorthy (Verbal Mention).

 

ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS & GAMES

  • Zayyan Riyas attended an advanced football training course jointly organised by FC Metz International Academy and Kerala Blasters FC at France.
  • Ankith Rakesh won the bronze medal in the 12th Combat Ju Jutsu World Championship, held at Poland.
  • Nikita Pai won Gold at the International Yogasana Championship in Nepal. Ivanna Elizabeth participated in the National Level Yogasana Competition held at Jharkhand.
  • Vinayak Dili and Hanna Paulson won the 2nd prize in the District Yogasana Championship conducted by the Ernakulam Sports Association and secured 3rd & 5th positions respectively in the competition conducted by Ernakulam District Life Yoga Association.
  • Varsha R Shankar won Gold, Silver, and Bronze in various events at the National Kalaripayattu Championship 2024 held at Gujarat. Alok K Kannan earned Bronze at the District level, and Ameya Bose won Silver and Bronze at the competitions conducted by Lubaina Kalari.
  • Niranjani Remesh won Gold Medal and Devika Vinod won Gold and Bronze at the 3rd Kerala State Open Inter School ITF Taekwondo Championship.
  • Malavika G Nair secured Second Prize at the 14th Budo Karate State Championship.
  • Tanvi Vivek and Vrishin Sandeep Pai won First Place in Inter Dojo Open Karate Championship and Premier League Inter-Dojo Karate Championship respectively.
  • Many of our students achieved remarkable success at the Karate State Championship organized by BVM Eroor and Traditional Shotokan Karate Association.
  • Adhinav Suneer won a Gold Medal at the Kerala State Muay Thai Youth Championship
  • Anshika Rakesh won a Bronze Medal at the Judo Zonal Tournament 2024 by CBSE South Zone.
  • Aarush Arun, Anshika Rakesh and Neron George V N won Gold Medals and Silver respectively at the Kerala State Judo Championship.
  • Aditri Arun Pillai won one Gold and two Silver medals at the 59th Rhythmic Gymnastics State Championship and was ranked 14th in the National Championship. Shruti Mahadev won Silver medal in the state championship and Bronze in the District Gymnastics Competition.
  • S. Sunderrajan won Gold medal and Niranjana Raj won the Bronze in Shot Put at the CBSE Athletic Championship. Angelina Henry earned Silver in the Ernakulam District Archery Competition, and S. Sreekesh secured 2nd position in the District Shooting Championship. Maisha Sha won Bronze in the Ernakulam District Skating Championship.
  • In the Dr. KM Munshi Memorial Athletic Meet, Ramkishan Aravind and Prajun S secured Third place in Shot Put and Discus Throw respectively.

 

SWIMMING

Cyan Elizabeth Tilson emerged as the Individual Champion at the District Aquatic Championship 2024. Adhvika Asghar won a Silver medal at the Kerala State Aquatic Championship and Gold medal in the Ernakulam District Aquatic Championship for 50m Backstroke. Siblings Alfin Jeejan and Ann Jeejan impressively crossed 780 meters of the River Periyar.

CHESS


  • Arjun A Menon was Under 13 Champion at the Eighth Times Eight Chess Gala, Second Runner Up in the Ernakulam District Under 16 Chess Championship, and Open Rapid Chess Tournament, winning a cash prize of Rs. 7,000. Arjun has also earned various other medals, trophies, and cash prizes in chess tournaments.
  • Jaishnavi J Menon won the Best Player award at the Eugine Luiz Memorial Chess Competition and secured Second place in the Pothys All Kerala Open Chess Tournament (Under 12 Girls). She also ranked 14th in the All Kerala Inter School Chess Tournament organized by Rotary Club.
  • Juan M Sebastian took Second place in the All Kerala School Chess Tournament by St. Mary Magdaline Church Moothedam,.
  • Our school won laurels in team sports Football

?           The school Under 19 team emerged victorious in the tournaments organised by Sanskara School in which Durgesh Singh was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper, and Siva Udaykumar the best player.

?           and our under 14 Boys in Chavara Darshan in which Prajun S was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

?      The team secured first runner-up positions in

?           the Paul Joseph Memorial Football Tournament hosted by the Delta Study and Durgesh Singh was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper

?           RCJPS inter school football tournament where Abhimanyu Mahesh was titled as the Best Defender.

?           and in St. Charles Cup where Zayyan Riyaz was the Best Player and Thomas Paul was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper.

Basketball

?           In the CBSE Cluster Tournament, the school team won the Second Runners Up position in both the Under 19 and 14 girls categories.

?           The Under 15 boys team won the Centenary Cup hosted by Toc H and Ankith Rakesh was the Top Scorer.

?           A second-place finish was achieved by the U-15 team in the GPS Super Slam and Under 17 team in Sanskara Kick and Dunk and in Vishal Cup by Gregorian Public School where Praseen T Biju was adjudged the Best Player.

?           The U 14 team won the XIV RCJPS Inter School Basketball Tournament. Darsh Kiranjith was the Player of the Tournament.

?           Seven of our students represented the Ernakulam District team in the State Basketball championship.

 

 

Volleyball

  • In the Varuna Cup Inter-School Volleyball Tournament, the Senior Boys team and U-15 Girls team won the First runner-up position and Christine S John was titled as the Promising Player.
  • Runners-up positions were secured by the school teams in the CBSE Cluster Competitions (U-14 and 19 Girls, U-19 Boys) and in Court Clash, the Inter School Games Fest organized by BVMG.

Kho Kho

  • Both U-17 boys' and girls' Kho-Kho teams won the CBSE clusters and participated in the National Championship held at Madhya Pradesh and Haryana respectively and they were qualified for the quarterfinals. The U-19 boys’ team was first runner-up in the CBSE Cluster Championship.
  • The U-19 boys’ Kho-Kho team won Court Clash, with G.V. Aadithya as Best Player, Ethan Antony Bejoy as Best Defender, and Ryhan Thomas as Man of the Match.
  • Our Under 19 boys team emerged champions at the inter-school tournament hosted by Nalanda Public School.
  • Eleven of our students represented the Ernakulam District in the State Kho Kho championship.

Table Tennis

  • Aamir Asif P and Rohan Menon of Std VI achieved 3rd place in the Vidyodaya Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament 2024-2025.

Kabaddi Achievements

  • The U-14 Girls and U-19 Boys teams won the First runner-up positions in the CBSE Cluster Competitions and the U-17 Boys team finished second runners-up. Aswathy Krishnakumar of Std VII and L Sreedhar of Std XII were adjudged as the Best Players.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES FOR STUDENTS

  • Career Guidance sessions were conducted by Aakash Institute, T.I.M.E, ICS Logic School of Management & Kerala Commerce Forum. Sri Manoj Krishnan from The Compass Team, Wing Commander Firoz B, CA Deepak Korah George and CA Anand (ICS Vice Chairman) also conducted sessions on the same.
  • To foster holistic development of students, a wide array of sessions on variety of topics were conducted, namely,
  • The hazards of Drug addiction, Unhealthy relationships and Screen addiction, Liver Health Campaign
  • Importance of maintaining a healthy heart and healthy lifestyle for a long life.
  • Relationship Resilience - The art of setting boundaries.
  • Dealing with Exam Stress and Anxiety for the students of Std X and XII.
  • Yoga for Stress Relief
  • Blood Donation
  • Women Empowerment.
  • Climate Change.

                    were held by experts from the respective fields.

?           Some of the other workshops conducted for students were

?           filmmaking workshop by Filimit India at the Kerala History Museum.

?           The Thinc Design Workshop for Std XI conducted by Mr. Vikram Valsala, Head of Design at Thinc Institute of Design.

?           Evolve Robotics representatives held a session on Robotics and AI for all students of Std II to IX.

?           Dr. Ambat Vijayakumar conducted a session on "Invisible Mathematics" for Std XI.

              ?           Students of std VIII and XII attended the Samvada program by KELSA on legal knowledge and civic sense, including a visit to the High Court.

      ?           Dr. Ramachandra Rao from ISRO spoke to Std VIII students.

              ?           12 students, led by Ms. Deepa R, visited Bhavans School, Tirupati, and ISRO Sriharikota for witnessing the PROBA-3 mission launch.

              ?           30 students attended the Sugatholsavam 90th Birth Anniversary of Smt. Sugathakumari and an educational trip in Kochi Water Metro.

 CO-CURRICULAR  ACTIVITIES TO  FACILITATE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT IN STUDENTS

 

ATAL INNOVATION MISSION ACHIEVEMENTS

 

  • Summer Camp ‘TechWiz@Giri’ was conducted in 2 batches during the month of April 2024 and attended by students from external schools.
  • In Udaan Tech Nex by Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Eroor, Aagney Menon and Milan Rajesh won the 3rd prize in Assistive Technology.
  • In the KRITHI (Inter school tech fest) at Bhavan's Newsprint Vidyalaya Velloor, Milan Rajesh, Aagney Menon, Saketh Sandeep, Juan Roshi Varghese and Sabhari Perumal won prizes in various events.
  • Milan Rajesh, Aagney Menon, Achyut Venkat, Gourinadh AS, Adwaith Rakesh designed a product in 3D Seed The Future Entrepreneurs Programme.
  •  Madhav Dinesh and A M Rankeesh showcased their project in the CBSE Skill Expo held at Coimbatore.

MAGNUM OPUS

The 29th edition of Magnum Opus- Euphonique, themed on music, was inaugurated by flutist Mr. Rajesh Cherthala, with playback singer Ms. Chitra Arun as the chief guest for the valedictory. To raise funds, online quizzes with cash prizes were organized by Std XI students.

 

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

The school parliament and student council work together to ensure smooth school operations. Awareness of Sustainable Development Goals through various programs like club and house activities, NCC, Scouts & Guides, Radio Girinagar, Kalabharati, Edusports, Youth Leadership Programme, Promoting multilingualism and plurality through Ekta, and educational tours. Academic efficiency is enhanced through programs like Bodhi, Ganitha Mithram for Mathematics, English Matters, Bhasha Bandu, and Bhasha Sahayi for languages.

ANNUAL HEALTH CHECK-UP

Annual medical check-ups are conducted for all students. Dr. Hari Sankar from DDRC led a session on lifestyle diseases and diagnostics for teachers.

School Library

Our library houses over 13,000 books and is a member of the NDLI-Club for digital learning. We organized two book exhibitions with DC Books and United Books and held a storybook donation drive to share the joy of reading with nearby government schools.

 

SCHOOL PUBLICATIONS

The annual school newsletter Toolika and the magazine Bhavana will be published soon.

 


SCHOOL COUNSELLOR and REMEDIAL EDUCATION

The school's counseling services support students' mental health through life skills workshops, group sessions, and individual therapy.

The resource room and remedial educators provide essential support for students with special needs, fostering their overall development.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS FOR TEACHERS

Ms. Aswathy Vasudevan and Ms. Soumya K S from the Biology department won first prize at Abhiruchi 2024 - Teachers’ Conclave for their topic ‘Stem to Steam.’

Ms. Swapna Pillai received the PT Thomas Educational Excellence Award 2024 for Best Teacher.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES FOR TEACHERS

In line with the CBSE mandate, all teachers completed 50 hours of professional development through various CBPs conducted by CBSE and in-house sessions organized by Academic Supervisor.

Our Principal, Smt. Sreejyothi N, Vice-Principal, Smt. Sindhu K, and Special Educator, Smt. Sushi P, served as CBSE-appointed resource persons.

 

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

 

The office saw a major upgrade with a revamped admin block, new fire exit staircase, modern lift, and renovated entrance gates and arch, enhancing safety, accessibility, and aesthetics.

 

IMPORTANT DAYS OBSERVED

All the days of national and regional importance and festivals were celebrated at school.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME

As part of Samarpan, our community outreach program, students donated bags and study materials to underprivileged children. Onam kits were provided to the General Hospital’s palliative care unit under the Nilavu initiative. During Christmas, 666 cakes were collected and distributed to local schools and palliative care units, spreading joy and cheer.


PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION

The PTA of our school has been a constant support in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The toppers of SSE and SSCE were felicitated in a grand function under the aegis of PTA. They initiated the distribution of Payasam on Children's day and cake on the day of Christmas celebrations. Their enthusiastic participation during the Christmas celebration raised the level of the programme by several notches. They co-organized the first BVMG Inter School Sports Carnival, "Court Clash," featuring 25 schools. The PTA took a lead in honoring our support staff with Onakodi and provisions. They also sponsored jerseys for our Kho Kho team. Their unwavering support inspires new ventures every year.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success of our school stems from the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
