  • Akshaya M of Std IX emerged as the Creative Genius in the national Level competition Katha Utsav 2018.
  • Our senior school band consisting of Shreya Jayaram (Std.X), Sidharth Satheesh (Std XII), Anurag R Nayan (Std.XI), Ibin (Std.XII) was adjudged as one of the finalists in the national level in the Yamaha Music India, biggest academic school band competition, Teens Rock, 2018 in Delhi and received instruments worth Rs one lakh fifteen thousand.
  • 8 students and 6 teachers were honoured with the Certificate of Participation for contributing crochet blankets to the Massive Mandela Masterpiece- the largest Portrait Blanket in the world measuring 8167m designed at Zonderwater Center in Cullinan, Pretoria, South Africa.

  • Our beloved Principal Smt. Sunitha S was awarded the coveted the CBSE National Award for the Best Teacher in the Secondary and Senior Secondary Category and the prestigious Shikshan Bharati Jindal Best Teacher Award by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for her remarkable contribution in the field of education.
  • ATAL Tinkering Laboratory which helps to develop the scientific temper of young mind was inaugurated by Shri Hibi Eden, MLA. ATAL Tinkering Labs is established by the NITI Aayog with a mission to cultivate 1 million neoteric innovators in India in it a workspace for children can give shape to their ideas.

 2015-16
  • Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Girinagar enters the Guinness Book of World records by contributing blankets made by 22 teachers and 13 students. A spectacular and colourful crochet measuring 11,148 square metres, made by 2,432 women, organized by Mother India Crochet Queen (MICQ) eclipsed the African Women's World Record of 3,357 sq. meters.
  • Our Principal Nirmala Venkatewaran bagged the National Award for best teacher 2015 instituted by the MHRD. She received the award from the Hon. President of India on September 5th at Vignan Bhavan, Newdelhi. The award is for her consistent dedication towards students’ excellence in the field of academics, sports and co-scholastics during her tenure in BVM Girinagar.

  • Our School received the Sports Promotion Award instituted by CBSE.
  • Smt. Uma Devi K (Dept. Of Sanskrit) received the National Award for Best Teacher instituted by the Ministry of HRD from the honourable president of India, Sri. PranabMukherjee
  • Our teacher Geetha K (Dept of Hindi) and out student Neha Menon of STD IX received a certificate of Appreciation on National Education Day 2014 for commendable work done in the area of Sanitation and Inclusion.
  • Our student Aparna Sanjay of STD XII received the K M Munshi Award for the Best student of the year by Shikshan Bharathi. She was also selected and nominated by the CBSE to attend a two day program “Celebrating Excellence” on the Eve of Independence Day 2014 which was followed by an interactive session with Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
  • Our student Anamika Ann Maria of Our School is the National winner of Stamp Designing Competition of Postal Department.She has been adjudged as the best Stamp designer among 2 lakh participants on the theme. “A day with grandparents”.The picture has been released as stamp.
  • Our student Jyothi Priya and Sreelakshmi of STD IX received National award for the competitions conducted by CBSE in connection with National Sanskrit day on 7th August 2014.

  • Our Student Mathew George Kalarickal of STD XII received the K.M. Munshi Award for the best student of the year by Shikshan Bharathi
  • Our budding athlete Gayathri Sivakumar of STD VII made all of us proud by setting a new National Record of 1.59 m in high jump in National Inter Zonal Junior Athletics Championship.
  • Our School won the overall championship in Dr. K.M. Munshi Memorial Interschool Athletics.

  • Our School felt honoured when former President of India popularly known as the Missile Man of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam paid us a visit.
  • National Year of Mathematics was celebrated in a grand manner An inter school competition “Festum Mathematics“ was organized in our School.
  • In the South Zone Judo Championship, Our School has won the ever rolling trophy making it a hat-trick by winning 11 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 11 bronze medals and 9 participation certificates.
  • In the regional level CBSE Science exhibition Akansh Ajith. M of Class IX and Mathew George of Class XI won the 1st position.

  • Our School bagged the Prestigious honour of receiving the “BEST SCHOOL AWARD” from Shikshan Bharathi the educational wing of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
  • The Science Olympiad foundation New Delhi honoured Our Principal Nirmala Venkateshwaran with the Best Principal Award in the state of Kerala.
  • Work Education, an integral part of CCE was introduced this year. Students from 6 to 9 are given hands on experience in various skills like Jewellery designing,cookery,photography,beautician’s course, tie and dye, crafts, candle making and sports activities
  • International year of Chemistry was celebrated with much aplomb in the School premises.

  • Our student Master Satyawageeswar and our staff Smt. Nirmala.V.K were selected for the Shikshan Bharathi National level Best Teacher and Best Student award.
  • Our School was adjudged the second position in the National level Best School Award.
  • Dr. H.C. Verma,professor at IIT-Kanpur and renowned Nuclear Experimental physicist, visited our school and spent the whole day interacting with students and promoting interest in Science.
  • The professional German gymnastic team headed by Mr.Swen Alb paid a visit to our school and enthralled us with their by performances.
  • The SEED program was launched jointly Mathrubhumi and the Dept of environment.

  • Our School bagged the prestigious international school award instituted by the British Council for its outstanding development of international dimension in the curriculum.

  • Our Principal Nirmala Venkateshwaran received an award from the Science and Maths Olympiad Foundation for inculcating scientific temper and scientific spirit in the students.
  • Our School also emerged the Best Net YI in the country. Our faculty member Ms. Nirmala.V.K was chosen as the best YI coordinator. Radhika Babu George of the class IX won the best co-chair at the net level.
 2008-09
  • Principal Ms. Nirmala Venkateshwaran achieved the special honour of being chosen to represent Kerala in the School Counselors Inward Visit to the UK programme sponsored by the British Council. She was also selected to attend an intensive training program for principals at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore for a week. Five students of Standard X accompanied by our teacher Mr. Satish attended the National Integration Camp at Delhi.
  • Our student Bimal Thankachan of Std XI was among the 22 students chosen from all over India to go Japan on a 10 day visit as part of a program called JENESYS (Japanese East Asia Network Exchange of Student and Youth).
  • Our student Viswajith of STD X did us all proud by winning the first rank in National Science Olympiad. He was awarded a cash price of Rs.51, 000. He also won the Second Rank in the Ganithashasthra Prathiba Exam.
  • The crowning glory this year is the achievement of Vaishnavi.V. Thanthri who won the first prize in the Ernakulam District Mini Games Athletic Meet, the First Prize in Dr. K.M.Munshi Athletic Meet and the First Prize in the Kerala State CBSE Athletic Meet for High Jump under 16 girls’ category and the third prize in the National CBSE Athletic meet.
 2007-08
  • The Smart Class program was introduced and a Plasma T V was installed in every class room. A Knowledge centre was opened to enable the use of this facility and to provide support.
  • Our school was chosen to be the venue of the Nodal Teacher Training by CBSE from 18th to 21st NOV 2008. This programme was initiated to set the context of adolescent health in India.
 2005-06
  • The Maths Lab was inaugurated by Sri E Govindan, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Cochin.
  • Five of our teachers joined the ‘Wipro Applying Thought in School’ a 1 year program organized by the Teacher Foundation an organization committed to promoting critical and creative thinking through collaborative learning.
  • Sahrudaya, Alumni Association of BVM, Girinagar met for the first time in Dec 2005.
 2004-05
  • The School received ISO 9001 - 2000 certification in 2005 for its meritorious contribution in the field of education.

  • N. C. C unit was incorporated.

  • Faculty improvement Programme: A batch of 20 teachers underwent a certificate programme of ‘Intel – Teach To The Future’.

  • Our school won the first position in India among all Bhavan’s Schools in co-curricular activities as evaluated by Shikshan  Bharati.

 1998-99

  • The All Kerala Interschool CBSE Youth Festival was won by our school for the 2nd year in succession.
  • The teachers have taken to the project, Shikshan Bharathi evaluation process, to find innovative ideas of making classes more    interesting. A knowledge centre functions in the school that provides teachers with guidance and support whenever required.

  • Teaching without text books was extended to Standard II.

 1996-97

  • The concept of “Learning without Text books” was introduced in Standard I.
  • The Commerce stream was started this year.
  • The Principal won the “Mukhya Adhapika Shiromani Award” instituted by the Association of Private Schools, South Zone for her meritorious and continuous service to the institution as Principal.
  • The Resource Room Facility was started this year with 8 students and a special educator to attend to them under the auspices of The Raksha Institute of Special Education, Kochi.
  • Our students Master Sandeep, Aswin Venkat and Manoj Isaac gained admission to the IIT’s.

 1995-96

  • The Bhavan’s Jyothi was won by our student Divya Unni for the third consecutive year.
  • Magnum Opus an inter school Art and Literary competition organized by the students of standard XI was initiated in connection with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. 14 schools from in and around Cochin participated in this mega event.
  • On 2nd October 1995 Smt. N Vijayalakshmi, Principal and Smt Sukumari Menon, HOD of English, left for the UK on a reciprocal visit to Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School on a week’s stay.

  • Mrs. Angela Dally, Head Teacher and Dorothy Swan, Geography Teacher of Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School paid us a visit in February 1995.

 1993-94

  • The computer stream was introduced for students of Class XI. The first batch of Standard XII achieved cent percent results.

 1992-93

  • The school was chosen as an exam centre for the AISSE and AISSCE Exams held in March ’92. Our school was also an evaluation centre in Integrated Science for the secondary school exam.

 1991-92

  • Standard XI was added to our school with 39 students in the Science stream. The inspection regarding upgradation of our school was completed.
  • The principal attended a three day National conference at Jaipur.

 1989-90

  • The Academic Evaluation System was further changed to 4 unit tests and 2 terminal exams a year.
  • A week long programme in connection with Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Celebrations was organised. Late Shri  Ramakrishnaji Gen. Secretary BVB, Bombay, inaugurated the Pictorial Exhibition held in this connection by the students.
  • Master Sajith Menon and Abraham Paulose received the C Subramanian Award for Excellence in Character instituted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
  • The year 1990 ushered in the decennial year of the Girinagar School.

 1988-89

  • Aravind G secured the coveted NTSE Scholarship for the 2nd time.
  • A philately club was started. Our school won the All Kerala Interschool Philatelic Quiz competition and represented Kerala in the National Philatelic Quiz Competition.
  • Exhibition on Olympics was conducted for three days, an innovative idea of Sri. Jayachandran Thampuran, Physical Education Teacher.
 1986-87
  • The Principal attended the National conference of Principals of CBSE at Delhi.
  • The second batch of Standard Xth appeared achieving 100 % success.
  • Two students received NTSE scholarship Suman Kumar & Swaminathan, by NCERT.

 1985-86

  • The Ist batch of 32 students appeared for AISSE achieving 100 % success. The evaluation system was changed to 2 periodic tests and 2 semester exams.
  • A CBSE conference held for members of the Management and Principals of CBSE schools was attended by Dr. Sreekkumar P, and Smt. Vijayalakshmi N. 
 1984-85
  • The school received the CBSE affiliation prior to the Ist batch of students appearing for the 10th Standard Board Exam (AISSE).
  • The administrative cum science block, a 3 storied building was inaugurated with three fully equipped Physics, Chemistry, and Biology labs.
  • The Toolika, a news letter was introduced in the same year.
  • The existing examination system underwent a major change with the introduction of monthly tests in addition to the 3 terminal exams aimed at reducing stress level of students.
 1983-84
  • The school magazine Bhavana was published to showcase the latent talents of the students. Instrumental music and Kalaripayattu (under Late Sri. Sreepathy Gurukkal) were introduced.

  • The foundation stone was laid and regular functioning of the school started.
