June 2023

    • Kiran Thomas Tyson of Class IX B secured the second prize in the All Kerala Scrabble Championship organized by Centre Square Mall, Kochi.
    • Tarun Thomas Tyson of Class X B won the first prize in the District Checkers Championship.

      In the 9th YMCA Indoor Dojo Karate Championship 2023, the following students won the prizes.

       Kaushik Yavvaram of class III A secured the first position in individual Kata and third in team Kata respectively.

      Akshainie Yvvaram of class VI A secured the second position in the individual Kata and first in the Team Kata .

      Diya Githesh of class VI A secured the third position in the individual Kata and first in the Team Kata.

       Avanthika Aravind of class II D emerged as the second runner-up of Lulu Little Star 2023.

      Arjun Vivek and R Nandana Pillai adjudged the Best Performers at School Level in ‘Saksham Quiz School Level Competition 2020-21’.

      Arjun A Menon participated in TGS Chess Tournament and secured 8th position in under 13 boys category.

       

      Thamanna M S of Class VIII D, participated in YOUNG INTACH ‘ Monuments and Sciences’ and was awarded the prize for Best Entry.

      Mihirnayan V M, Nayana Padmakumar and Aditi Alekat Rajesh secured the third position in the Science Quiz Competition held during the Amrita Medical Edu Expo, as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Amrita Hospital.

      Our School has bagged the First Runner Up Trophy in the Inter School Carnatic & Instrumental Music Competition – ‘Nadanirjhari ‘conducted by Vidyodaya School Thevakkal.

      Thamanna M S got the third prize in the painting competition conducted by Amritha Hospital.

      Gopika Balagopal won the second prize in the Essay Writing Competition held at Amritha Hospital in the senior secondary category.


      In KRITHI 2023- Inter school Quiz competition conducted by Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya Velloor, Arjun Vivek and Abhijith Krishna secured the first prize in Quiz on Armed Forces.

      Arjun A Menon and Malavika Menon got the third prize in Mythology Quiz.

2022-23

In the District level Bhagavad Gita competition conducted by Chinmaya Mission,  Sidharth Sankar of class 7A bagged the third prize in Category C (for classes 7 and 8). In the same competition, Srisharada Subramanian of class 10A  bagged the third prize in Category D (for classes 9 and 10).

 They are selected for the State level competition to be conducted in December.

 

In the 1st KERALA STATE OPEN INTER-SCHOOL TAEKWON-DO (ITF) CHAMPIONSHIP - 2022 held at Jama-ath Residential Public School, Padamugal, the following students won prizes.

In the Painting Competition conducted by IOC Ltd and The Hindu in connection with Vigilance Awareness Week, on the topic ‘ India of your dreams’ , Thammana M.S of class VIID secured the First position  and Sana of class VI D secured the Second position. In the slogan writing competition based on the topic “ Corruption free India for a Developed  Nation, Nabil of class IXC secured the First position, Elisha Terese Chacko of IXC secured the Second position and Shri Sarada of class XA won the consolation prize.

 

WIN SPELL BEE competition was conducted  at the school.

Our school team were the winners  at the Under 13 boys category Super Slam basketball tournament conducted at GPS school Thiruvaniyoor.


Praseen T Biju was selected as the Best player of the tournament in Under 13 boys category.

In the inter-school ‘GPS Super Slam Tournament’ conducted by Global Public School, ADHVIKA ASGHAR of Class 10 B won the following prizes:

In the inter-school ‘GPS Super Slam Tournament’ conducted by Global Public School, Adhvika Asghar of class XB secured gold in 50 m Backstroke and Silver in 50m Freestyle.

 

 

In the Asianet News School Wizard Talent Hunt, Narayan Ram Aravind of std V has bagged the Award for Excellence in the category- Entrepreneurship, which was conducted for students of 9-12 category. The award selection was based on a video submitted by him, exhibiting his deep passion for agriculture.

Parvathi of std VII B won gold for 100 metre sprint and Silver for 1 lap race in the Ernakulam District Roller Skating Championship.

 

Gopika balagopal of Std X B received first prize for English Recitation in the ‘Recite It’ competition held online by Wizkids Carnival at National level.

 

Thamanna M S of and Sana of std VII secured the first and second prizes respectively in the painting competition organised by IOC Ltd. and The Hindu, in connection with the Vigilance Awareness Week.

In the Slogan Writing competition on the topic ‘Corruption - Free India for Developed Nation’, Nabil and Elisha Terese Chacko of std IX C won the first and third prizes respectively. Sri Sarada of XA got a consolation prize.

 

 

Our school team from std X has won the third prize in the ‘In Orbit Space Station Design Challenge’ conducted by ISRO in connection with the space week. The team members are:

In the ‘Cyclothon for Ozone Protection’ conducted by GCDA and Kochi Next , Gautham G Pillai and Rohit Menon  of std IX got a medal and certificate for completing 60 kms.

Our Girls’ Basketball team became the runners up in the Visio Cup 2022 held at Chavara Darshan,Koonammavu, in under 15 category. 

 

In the CATC camp conducted by 21 kerala NCC Battalion, held at Bhavan’s newsprint vidyalaya, Vellore, Muhammed Razick was chosen the second best cadet in the JD category and Vaishnavi Suresh secured a third prize in the firing competition.

In the RCB Roto Quiz 2022 Finals, conducted by the Rotary club of Bangalore, Mohit Panicker and Nihal George Kochiyil of std XII, became the runners up.

Gopika Balagopal of std X secured the first place in English and Hindi Essay writing competitions conducted by Ernakulam karayogam. She also secured the second prize in Hindi elocution competition in ‘Umang’ conducted by Vidyodaya school, Thevakkal.

Malavika Menon of V C secured first prize in ‘Purana Quiz’ conducted by Ernakulam karayogam.



 

 

 

 

The Boys’ basketball team emerged winners in the under 13 District Basketball Championship and runners up in the under 11 category, held at RSC.

 

In ‘UDAAN’ organised by BVM, Eroor, our school team won the first prize in the event ‘Innovate your Society’ and the participants are Sanjeevan Karthikeyan and Adarsh Satish of   IX B and the second prize in the event, “Innovate your Toy’. The participants are Rohan Brijesh and Vinayak Dili of VI B.

 

Mohit P Panicker and Nihal George Kochiyil of std XII emerged the Rotoquiz Kochi Round toppers and have qualified for the finals to be held at Bangalore.

 

Ms. Gayalakshmi, Dept. of English, Mr. Rahul S. Nair and Mr. Anandu M A, Dept. of Physical Education secured third prize in ‘Yuvashaktheekaran’, ‘Sports Snippet’ and ‘Snapshots’  respectively in   the competitions conducted by Vidyodaya school, Thevakkal, in connection with the Teachers’ conclave,  ‘Vidyajwala’.

 

In the TocH Orateur Eloquent competition, Adwika Asgar of std X B won the first prize in  Debate competition, speaking on the topic, ‘Agniveers are an asset to our country’ , and Rachel Koshy Pothen won the third prize in  Elocution competition on the topic, ‘Creating Blog and finding Inspiration’

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aadik Theophane Lenin of std V B secured first prize in Dr. K C G Verghese Memorial International Fide Rating Chess Tournament Under 10 category, held at Chennai.

Mohit P Panicker and Nihal George of std XII A have secured third position in the online quiz competition on world Environment Day on the theme ‘Only One Earth’ organised by SCMS Institute of bioscience and biotechnology research and development, SCMS technology and management, Kochi, India. They also won a cash prize of Rs. 750/-

In the third Kerala State Wrestling Championship 2022 conducted by Kerala state Grappling Federation in under 8 category, Daksh S of std II A has won the first position and gold medal.

 

In the 8th YMCA Indoor Dojo Karate Championship 2022(7-12 boys’ category), Ayush Krishna and Jothan Sebastian secured 2nd in individual Kata and third in team Kata respectively.

 

 

Aadik Theophane Lenin of std V B became the first runner up in the International Chess Day Chess championship.

In the ‘CHESSMII’ Children’s Scholarship under 15 Chess Tournament, he won the first prize in the Rapid round and 3rd prize in the Blitz round.

 

In the District Interschool Chess Tournament,2022, Hari R Chandran has won the First position with a gold medal in the High School Category and Juan M Sebastian of Std IV C secured Fourth position in the Lower Primary Category.

 

In ‘VOX’, the cultural competition held at Vidyodaya School, Kehavan J and Nejin J received the third prize for wall painting.

In ‘Pratheeksha’, organised by Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, Keshavan J, Gayathri Rakesh and Adarsh U D secured the 3rd Prize for poster making.

Vaishnavi Praveen and Thamanna won 2nd Place in Face painting.

Nandana R Nair, Haya Fathima, Aryagayathri and Nandini J Pallisery won the first place for the surprise event.


Our school bagged the 2nd Runners up Trophy.


On account of  World Hepatitis day, to create awareness among the public,  Vandana Srinivas of std IX drew a portrait and  developed a video about Dr.Rajeev Jayadevean who is one among the top leading endocrinologists in India.  He is the Co-Chairman of National IMA Covid Task Force,  Former president of IMA, Cochin, Vice Chairman-Research Cell of IMA Kerala and Deputy Medical Director of Sunrise Hospital.  

It was a moment of pride for her when the doctor personally visited her and encouraged her to continue with the noble venture.

In the Harvard Model United Nations held at Hyderabad, Sanaa Mathew of std XII B represented Belarus in the SOCHUM committee and was adjudged  the Outstanding Delegate. 

Aryagayathri R of std XI and Niranjan S Kartha of std IX represented Jordan in the Arab League Committee and received Honourable Mention.


 

Asian School of Architecture and Design Innovation conducted an Exhibition,Interactive sessions and various competitions ( clay modelling,Fractals,origami) for students of Std XI and XII .Twelve students of Std XI and XII attended the same.


 In the Inter School Competition, ‘Kriti’, conducted by Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor our school won the Overall Championship Trophy’.


Interclass Basketball and Volleyball matches were held in the school.

 

In the Quizzobuzz Interschool Quiz Competition conducted by Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara, our school won the Second Runner Up Trophy.  Abhijith Krishna of Std IX A and Arjun Vivek of Std IXD won  Second Prize  in the Senior Category.Malavika Menon of Std VC and R Karthik Krishnan of V A won the Second Prize in the Junior Category.

 Swetha Suraj of VII D won a certificate for Media City Chilanka online Classical Dance Fest for performing in the Asia book of records, India book of records and world book of records.

 Adhvika Asghar of Class X B and Tarun Thomas Tyson of Class IX B have been selected as the delegates to represent the State of Kerala for the Model Conference of Parties 2022 (MOCP 3) - a national level conference on biodiversity with the theme “Building a Shared Future for All Life.” This is held in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, National Biodiversity Authority, CBA, UNEP, UNDP and IUCN-CEC. The selection was based on the personal interview conducted by the WWF India Team from the nominees of various schools in the state of Kerala.The conference will be attended by 2 delegates from each state and union territory of India who will draft the New Delhi Declaration 2022.

  • Adhvika Asghar bagged the first place in the state swimming trials in 50,100 and 200 metre backstrokes. She was selected to All India aquatic championship held at Bangalore and secured the 4th position

2020-2021

  • Mihirnayan V.M. of class VII won the INSPIRE - MANAK Award (2020), and a cash prize of Rs. 10000/- for his innovative idea on reducing the incidence of microplastics from household water. This award is being executed by the Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India in association with National Innovation Foundation - India (NIF).
  • Hrishikesh Varma and Neeraj Nair brought laurels to our institution being runnerup of the most coveted MKK Nayar Quiz conducted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.

A Historic Moment for BVM Girinagar

Gayathri Shivakumar of Std. VII Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Girinagar Kochi who is coached by former Railway high jumper Manoj T, & M.P Thomas, former PE Teacher, BVM Girinagar, Kochi, rose to 1.59m and broke the under-14 girls National record by a huge margin in the 25th National junior inter-zone athletics championship here on Tuesday. Gayathri had jumped to a personal best 1.60m at the State meet a few weeks ago but her performance at the 36th Kerala State mini athletics championship at the Maharaja’s Stadium will be the official National record. High jumper Gayathri Sivakumar went over the under-14 girls’ national record while winning the under-12 gold. She came up with a stunning 1.55m that was three centimeters better than the under-14 national record of Maharashtra’s Jueeli Badhe (1.52m). It was also a lot higher than the under-12 boys’ Kerala record (1.45m). Gayathri, who also won the long jump, set the lone record of the championship, which was a one-day affair. Gayathri’s rare feat has positioned BVM Girinagar on the top of the chart at the National Level in the field of sports. The School felicitated her on 28 October 2013 for her unique achievement which has added a new feather in cap of BVM Girinagar, Kochi. .Mr E.Raman Kutty, Director. BVB, Kochi Kendra, Principal Nirmala Venkateshwaran, Sreekanth,S P.E teacher offered felicitations. The PTA President and Gayathri’s parents were also present for the function.

  • Commerce students won the Team championship trophy in Budget Analyses conducted by Rotary Cochin Central Club for the 3rd consecutive year.
  • Sathyawageeswar is one among the five Indian students chosen by the Harry Messel International Science School, Bangalore to represent India at a conference in Sydney in July 2011. The ISS 2011 offers a two week science Education Programme that honours academic excellence in talented students. He is the only student chosen from among all the Bhavan’s schools.
  • Vignesh S, Pranav Vijayan and Dhanush S. were the First Runner-up in the CBSE National Badminton Championship.
  • In the Yi activities for 2010-2011, Our school won The Best School Award 2009-10, Best Project Award for ‘DiYa’. Mrs. Nirmala V. K won the Best Yi Kochi Chapter Net Teacher coordinator Award for the year 2009-10.

2009-10

  • Master Sathyawageswar Standard XII has won the Shikshan Bharathi Award for the Best Student.
  • In the ONGC Quiz conducted in the school on 25th January 2010, Sathyawageeshwar, Tom Sebastian and Gouri S won the first, second and third prize respectively.

  • In the National Level, competition FIIT JEE Talent reward 2010 which was conducted in association with The Hindu Education Plus, our student Aparna Sanjay of Std. VIII won the Third Rank.
  • Anurag R Nayan received the second prize in Gita Chanting in the All Kerala Bhavan’s Fest 2010. He has won a lot of prizes in light music, recitation and in film music in the ‘Salabhamela’ competition 2010 by Deseeya Balatharangam.
  • Our school won the GREEN JOCKEY award for being selected as the best school in carrying out the En Yironment Project.
  • Run Your Own Business RYiB 24th Oct 2009 was conducted and students from Class VIII and IX participated in the RYiB at Durbar Hall Ground. Our school won the award for the most successful stall of RYiB 2009.

2008-09

  • Our Principal Smt. Nirmala Venkateswaran was chosen to represent Kerala in the School Conselor’s Inward Visit to the UK Programme sponsored by the British council. She had the rare honour of being able to visit many Universities in the UK.
  • Bimal Thankachan of standard XI was among the 22 students chosen from all over India to go to Japan on a 10 day visit as part of a program called JENESYS (Japanese East Asia Network Exchange of Students and Youth.
  • Viswajith V of standard X won the first rank in the National Science Olympiad and was awarded a cash prize of 51,000.

2007-08

  • In the NTSE Master Satyawageeswar of standard IX won accolades for having qualified the National Level Exam and interview, thereby winning a scholarship which would cover his educational expenses from school till he takes his Doctorate Degree.

  • Six students of our school have qualified for the final oral round of the MaRRs spelling bee contest to be held in Malaysia.
